The importance of creating a special needs trust

All parents, somewhere in their minds, recognize that they will not always be around to care for their child(ren). Many parents hope that by the time they are no longer around, their children will be sufficiently independent to care for themselves. Parents of children with special needs are not always able to share that hope. In order to help ensure that children with special needs will be financially provided for as they get older, parents of special needs children may want to consider setting up a special needs trust.

Estate planning is an integral part of preparing for the future

Most people realize the importance of planning for the future. We spend our lives working hard to provide for our family and accumulate assets. We plan for life events such as raising children, weddings, and ultimately our retirement. However, planning shouldn't end there. Since we have worked hard to acquire our assets, it is important to prepare for the continued growth of those assets and what should happen to them at the time of our death. This is why it is important to have an estate plan in place.

What is the best way to calculate long-term care cost?

As much as we believe that being prepared is proper planning, it is difficult to plan for the rising cost of long-term care. And if we can't plan for it, how can we prepare for it? One great way to begin planning for the expenses related to long-term care is to use a long-term care calculator. These useful tools can be found online and can be used to help you plan for the rising cost of healthcare.

Dementia and Alzheimer's patients need a comprehensive care plan

Regardless of if you are the patient or the loved one of the patient, being diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's can be a completely shocking experience for everyone. These diseases don't only rob individuals of their memory and independence, but can present many challenges very early on. Understanding how these diseases affect an individual both in the short and long-term can help loved ones develop a more comprehensive care plan to address their needs.
