(Note that Colorado does not certify specialists in any field.) Richard is a member of the Arapahoe, Denver and Colorado Bar Associations and a past co-chair of the Colorado Bar Association (CBA) Elder Law Committee. He is a frequent lecturer on long-term care Medicaid issues and special needs trusts, a contributing author to The Colorado Handbook of Elder Law, and editor of the Elder Law Section of the CBA Probate and Trust Law Newsletter. Richard E. Romeo, Partner, received a bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Northwestern University in music, and his law degree from The Ohio State University in 1984. After graduation, Rick worked for National City Bank in the commercial real estate division. Seeking more client contact, however, he soon moved on to the private practice of law. Since the early 1990s, he has focused exclusively on elder and disability law. Rick enoys both the courtroom and the client counseling sides of elder law. He is a member of the Boulder County Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association. He edits and publishes the Elder Law News, a regular newsletter on important topics of concern to the elder care community, and is a frequent speaker on Medicaid, estate planning, and other topics affecting the elderly and their families. A strong believer in giving to the community, Rick served for 5 years as a commissioner on the Housing Authority of the City of Boulder. He is currently president of the board of Community Housing Partners, a non-profit organization aimed at providing vital services to elders and families in public housing. Rick regularly performs pro bono legal work for Boulder County Legal Services and for Colorado Lawyers for the Arts. In his free time, he enjoys singing, hiking and woodworking.
